The tournament coach for 10U to 19U teams is decided on by the Aiea Region. Coaches must have the required certification otherwise the region will not be able submit the team to the tournament. We encourage our 10U-12U coaches to consider tournaments. In the past, we have entered as many 4 10U boys teams in a tournament. All tournament teams are responsible for all tournament related fees.

The behavior of the coaches, players and team supporters are a consideration when determining the roster for a tournament team.

Important information for volunteers

REQUIREMENTS (COACHES, REFEREES, TEAM MANAGERS, BOARD MEMBERS)

1) Volunteer Application

Every volunteer (coach, referee, board member, team parent, etc.) must submit a Volunteer Application each year through their Region’s Sports Connect portal.

2) Sterling Background Check
The Volunteer Application is delivered to AYSO National Headquarters and to Sterling Background Checks. Sterling provides all volunteers with an email link to complete the annual background check which screens for volunteers’ suitability to work with our participants.

ONLINE COURSE REQUIREMENTS

In addition to the annual Volunteer Application and Sterling Background Check, there are certain training requirements that must be completed by all volunteers.

1) CDC Concussion Awareness

The CDC Concussion Awareness training can be completed online through the AYSOU learning platform, under the “Training Library” tab, Course Category: Safe Haven.     Once you have successfully completed the course, your certification record will be updated

Alternatively, volunteers may take the HCAMP Brainspace (https://hawaiiconcussion.com/) training for "Youth/Community Coaches". Upon completion, download the Certificate of Completion and email the Certificate to your Regional Commissioner (or other person designated by your Regional Commissioner).

2) Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
The Sudden Cardiac Arrest training can be completed online through the AYSOU platform, under the “Training Library” tab, Course Category, Safe Haven. Once you have successfully completed the course, your certification record will be updated.

3) AYSO’s Safe Haven
All volunteers must complete the currently approved AYSO’s Safe Haven course on a one time basis.  This course can be completed online through AYSO's learning platform, AYSOU, under the "Training Library" tab, Course Category, Safe Haven.

4) Safesport Course (Not on etrainu / Instructions Below)

The 2017 SafeSport Act has expanded Mandated Reporters to include adults authorized to interact with children.  Due to this expansion, that includes AYSO and it requires training on child abuse and expanded reporting.

Effective January 1, 20022, U.S. Soccer will no longer allow equivalent training, such as AYSO's Safe Haven, and has mandated SafeSport training.  The training must be completed by no later than September 1, 2022 for team activation for the Fall season.

AYSO volunteers will still be required to complete the currently-approved on-line Safe Haven course on a one time basis.

More information on SafeSport Training and how to complete it may be accessed through https://aysovolunteers.org/safesport-mandatory-training/
